The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office headed by Dr. Sandro Daguman received three (3) brand new multi-purpose rescue vehicles this week. Mayor Diego P. Rivera turned over the vehicles to the CDRRMO team to supplement the city’s capacity to respond to emergencies and other scenarios.
The island of Samar is prone to tropical storms and other weather-related disasters, the most recent one of note would be the unfortunate devastation caused by the Super Typhoon Yolanda. The addition of these vehicles would greatly help with the implementation of the city’s Disaster Management Plan.
Part of Mayor Rivera’s advocacies is to reinforce the capability of the city to respond to such emergencies and to provide our rescue personnel with the necessary tools to efficiently do their job.
