The City Veterinarian’s Office of Calbayog City headed by Dr. Editha Ancheta launched the Stingless Bee-keeping Project for the LGU, a first in the city. With the assistance of Farm Supervisor Jason Nuñez, the CVO team inspected the site where the bees are kept and provided updates on the successful launch of the project. Mayor Diego Rivera fully supports projects that enhance the skills and knowledge of our farmers and other sectors of the agricultural community, and other initiatives that would expand the city’s ability to provide meaningful livelihood for the residents of the city.

Honeybees, more commonly known as Kiwot, are crucial elements in the preservation of our ecosystem and our flora. They serve as essential agents in the spread of pollen or pollination among trees and flowers, and play a key role in the reproduction of plants.
