As a move to intervene the present menace of dengue fever the City Government of Calbayog launched yesterday the Dengue Hydration Center (DHC) in one of the buildings inside the Calbayog City Sports Center in Brgy. Capoocan and manned by the personnel of the City Health Department.
In an interview, Ms. Rochet Gonzaga Tibo, Nurse III of the City Health Department, the Hydration Center will serve as the temporary holding and shelter for patients who had been found positive with dengue virus and needed observation and monitoring before sending them to the hospital if there is the necessity.
Tibo said that in the Hydration Center patients will be closely monitored and given free and regular complete blood count (CBC) through the city’s partner hospital – the St. Camillus. There is an ambulance standing by at the Hydration Center that ferry patients.
Yesterday, during the free Dengue Rapid Test (DRT) project of the Tingog Partylist and city government of Calbayog, around six children had been found positive with dengue and had been brought to the Hydration Center.
City Mayor Ronaldo P. The DHC is provided with 30 cot beds that can accommodate patients of the same number and will operate for as long as there is a need, Rochet Tibo said.
