On January 31, 2022, Mayor Diego Rivera witnessed the turnover and blessing of the five (5) newly purchased vehicles for the LGU. The LGU has been active in increasing the number of support vehicles that can be used by the city in its relief operations, rescue missions, tourism activities, COVID-19 response, and other services that could be offered to Calbayog’s citizens.

The five (5) vehicles are composed of two (2) units of Toyota Hilux Pick-up, two (2) units of Toyota Hi-Ace, and one (1) Toyota Coaster. The new units would supplement the LGU’s vehicle fleet, which have been a crucial element of the city’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plan for 2021 and 2022.

Calbayog City, which is composed of 157 barangays, has an estimated land area of 880.74 km. With the location of its barangays ranging from coastal areas to mountainous regions, the ability to provide essential services in a timely manner can prove to be challenging. The LGU hopes that the addition of the new vehicles can help mitigate these logistical challenges, and provided better services for Calbayognons regardless of their distance.
