The newly assigned police trainees under the PNP Field Training Program (FTP) met with Mayor Diego Rivera last Monday, August 16, 2021 for their introduction and courtesy call, accompanied by their field training officers, PCMS Jaime So Tingzon Jr., PCMS Diosdado Almoquera Arpon and PMSG Macacunal Ciego Sidic.

The PNP Field Training Program (FTP) is a program designed to expose trainees and new recruits to the police community and actual police work, according to PNP Chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar during a 2019 interview with PNA. This involves actual experience and assignment in patrol, traffic, and investigation works by all members of the PNP as a requirement for the permanency of their appointment.

The new trainees under the PNP FTP started last August 3, 2021, and are currently billeted at the Calbayog City Sports Center in Brgy. Capoocan. They are set to complete the program by January 2022. After this training period, they will then proceed to counter-insurgency training.

Mayor Rivera reiterated the city’s desire for peace and security for the whole community and deeply urged those who were present to persevere in their training and to do their jobs well. The local government of Calbayog welcomes the addition of manpower to our local police force, extending our capacity to patrol the streets, serve the public, and keep the peace.
